Halloween Spider Tablecloth

Here is the skirt pinned before I sewed the top and sides together.
Here is a close-up of the side fabric.

Finished tablecloth
I found this cool fabric and knew right away I wanted to make a tablecloth out of it. It took a LOT of sewing. I don't really like sewing so this was a labor of love, for sure. It turned out really well and it makes the house look awesome. Only problem is I don't want the kids eating on it, so they either put a dishtowel under their plate or I take it off. Maybe next year I will cut some protective clear plastic to put on the top too make it more functional.

The ghost were made by the kids the other day with cheese cloth and liquid laundry starch. Easy (somewhat messy) project that is over and done with quickly. The ghosts can be saved and reused for years, just don't crush or get them wet.

To make ghosts:
Gather bottles, cans or whatever you want to use as the bones of the ghost while it dries. One was a 2L soda bottle for the middle height and then two small personal size water bottles for the arms. Put wadded up foil on top of the 2L bottle to made the head round on the top. Then, just dip cut cheesecloth in liquid starch and drape onto bottles. Put as many layers on as you want. When the ghost is the desired shape, just set aside to allow the starch to dry and harden. We make ours on cookie sheets so they are easy to move around.
Happy Haunting!
