The last few days on and off, there has been a fire burning in the riverbed close to Fort Thomas. I would see the big smoke pillar rising into the sky but either didn't have my camera with me or no time to go out on a photo shoot. I was in luck today. I had my camera and a little free time. I could go home and do homework but photography is so much more fun. Plus, I'm in a photography class and needed landscape images this week. Maybe when I'm out capturing the fire I can find a cool landscape shot. Right now that's actually really hard to do because everything is a shade of brown, makes a very boring shot.
This is my favorite image I captured. I have the suburban door open and I'm balanced with one foot on the driver seat and another on the door. I needed to be that high to shoot over the weeds that were in front of where I pulled off the highway. (I cropped the weeds so you don't get to see them)
This shot is far away, across the highway and then a large field. Those gray "little" trees are big cottonwood trees. I like this image because you can see how the heat from the fire is making the smoke rise in a circular column. About 5 minutes after this shot was taken the fire reached the cottonwood trees and the fire grew to that height. The sound of the roaring fire was awesome and I had a front row seat to watch it from.
The following is my landscape for class. This is actually 14 images merged together that is 31.5 MB and 21081 X 2267 size. Our instructor has been out the last two weeks so I need his help on finding out what I can do to make the image pop. Once I have the final edit done I will re size the image to a more manageable size. This image I'm posting here is 1024 X 110.
